Miguel Podolsky had a simple, fun idea with this one: take two icons of French culture and put them on the same street. There's Tintin, the skinny red-headed hero from the French comic strip that ran through the '40s, '50s, and '60s, walking his little white dog Milou past a parked Citroën 2CV, that unmistakable rounded little car everyone in France seems to recognize on sight.

The blue of the 2CV pops against the warm yellow light spilling out of the shop windows behind it. Podolsky works in loose, confident brushstrokes, letting the cool blues and grays of the street play off the oranges and warm tones of the storefronts, so the whole scene feels lit from within even as the evening comes on. It's a small, affectionate joke of a painting, really, one beloved character next to another, both thoroughly and happily French.

About
miguel podolsky
Miguel Podolsky is a self-taught contemporary impressionist artist who sees the world not just with his eyes, but with his heart. His passion for color and light breathes life into every canvas, capturing the essence of nature, cityscapes, and seascapes in a way that feels both intimate and grand. With over 35 years of experience as an architect, Miguel’s sharp eye for detail and structure naturally flows into his paintings, where the beauty of both man-made and natural worlds merge seamlessly. Every brushstroke reflects his deep connection to the world around him, from the quiet stillness of a lake to the energy of a bustling city street.
His work invites you to step inside his world, where color and light reveal the motion and atmosphere of life. Whether it’s the serene calm of water, the pulse of urban life, or the timeless elegance of ships at sea, Miguel’s art encourages you to pause, breathe, and see the beauty that’s often missed in the rush of everyday life.
